Cut Downtime and Fight Part Wear with High-Deposition Rantube Hardfacing Electrodes

Rankin Industries now offers Rantube, a premium large diameter tubular hardfacing electrode that combats wear caused by severe abrasion, erosion, impact, and heat.

Hardfacing with high-deposition Rantube electrodes extends part service life in heavy industries including agriculture, cement, dredging, earth-moving, petroleum, pulp and paper, mining and more. Rantube can be applied to cast iron, manganese steel, and mild steel without preheat. High carbon and alloy steels may require preheat.

Rantube deposition rates are up to 6.5 pounds per hour for the 7/16" (11mm) size. The 1/4" electrode is designed for all position welding and can be used at low amperage to hardface thin edges on tillage tools and similar parts.

Large diameter electrodes are available in three diameters:

  • 1/4" (6mm)
  • 5/16" (8mm)
  • 7/16" (11mm)

Special tubular design features include:

  • graphite end seal for quick arc start
  • protective flux coating
  • high density alloy powder fill
  • steel case seals tubular section containing alloys to prevent contamination, moisture pickup, and alloy loss if the electrode is dropped
  • 1/4" (6mm) fits all electrode holders
  • color coding for alloy identification
